Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney Launches IIEA/RDS Leadership Forum on Climate Smart Agriculture

Opportunities for Climate Smart Agriculture – RDS Lecture – 14th April 2015
Tom Murphy attended this event, which included in its audience farmers, scientists, educators and media, including Matt Dempsey. Speakers included Forbes Elworthy from New Zealand who discussed the economic return to farmers from promoting climate-smart agriculture. Mr Elsworthy was joined by Mike Magan, a dairy farmer from Killashee, Co. Longford, who explored the implications of Climate-Smart Agriculture from an Irish perspective and the transformative impact the end of milk quotas could have on rural Ireland. PAC realises the importance of putting in the time to attend events such as these in order to identify where opportunities for agricultural contractors might arise and indeed equally to identify where issues might surface that could have an adverse effect on the businesses of agricultural contractors.
