Be Sun Smart – Even on Cloudy Days

Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in Ireland, thankfully, most cases of skin cancer can be prevented by protecting skin.   Outdoor workers are particularly vulnerable to developing skin cancer. Due to spending long periods of time outdoors, they are exposed to high levels of UV rays from the sun – even on cloudy days. By following the following simple guidelines you can minimise the risk of skin cancer.
– Wear clothing that covers as much of your skin as possible
– Apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 twenty minutes before going out. Reapply every two hours and more often if perspiring.
– Wear a hat
– Wear wrap around sunglasses
– Where possible coincide breaks to the hottest parts of the day
