Sprayer Re-Testing

PAC Ireland reminds agricultural contractors and farmers that one of the key components of the Sustainable Use Directive requires that all boom sprayers and orchard/blast sprayers are tested and certified in order to ensure they meet the required standard or are decommissioned. Sprayers tested and certified before the end of 2016 should already have completed a re-test. It should also be noted that sprayers tested and certified from 2020 onwards will only have a three-year duration for their certificates, which will mean retesting every three years or sooner. New sprayers purchased in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and not previously tested, are due to be tested and certified in 2022. Sprayers tested in 2018 and 2019 will have to be tested before January 2023. A list of currently approved DAFM equipment inspectors can be found at https://www.pcs.agriculture.gov.ie/sud/equipmentinspectors/
It is important to remember that sprayer testing and certification is a distinct requirement from sprayer calibration. Sprayers must calibrated regularly and at the very least once a year.
