Ploughing 2015

Ploughing Match 2015 Apart from one massive downpour, Wednesday at the Ploughing Match was a great day. PAC volunteers worked in the Safety Village, which was busy all day with visitors showing a positive interest in farm safety and in how this important message is conveyed. The outside safety demonstrations including a chainsaw workshop and “straw man” pto demo once again proved very popular.

The Irish Heart Foundation were kept busy all day providing free blood pressure tests and the IFA and HSA provided a children’s area where youngsters could take interactive computer farm safety tests for which they received a Certificate. Smaller children took part in a colouring competition sponsored by FBD where they had to spot dangers on the farm. The Irish Water Safety demonstrations drew great crowds of both children and adults. This was a fun interaction that delivered a very important message.
On Monday the Safety Village welcomed a visit from President Michael D. Higgins and on Tuesday Minister Jed Nash and Minister Simon Coveney dropped by.
