Call for Fuel Price Regulation – 7th October, 2014

Tom Murphy is quoted in today’s Farming Independent stating that Contractors (and consequently Farmers) have ended up carrying the costs of high fuel bills throughout this summer and autumn, whilst the price of crude oil has fallen by up to 18c.  During the same period prices at the pump fell by as little as 2c.
PAC is calling for the Government to monitor and, where appropriate, regulate fuel prices to ensure fair play. Margins in agriculture are tight and fuel overheads along with the cost of transportation off the island will make Irish agricultural produce uncompetitive in a fiercely competitive world.
