Agri-Environmental Conference

Tom Murphy attended the Teagasc Agri-Environmental Conference, 2017 in Tullamore today. Apart from farm gate prices, one of the most significant issues facing Irish farmers is compliance with a raft of environmental requirements set out by the EU. Generally Irish farmers are good guardians of the environment but it is difficult when they have to compete with imports from other countries who do not comply with the same stringent environmental constraints as they do. PAC actively supports farmers getting a fair price for their produce.
At present Ireland falls short of targets set by the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement to reduce greenhouse gasses and there was an interesting presentation from Gary Lannigan (Teagasc) on Mitigating Greenhouse Gas and Ammonia in Irish Farming.  Follow THIS LINK to view copies of all the presentations at this conference.
