Climate Action in Agriculture

On 21st Jan Tom Murphy, for PAC Ireland, attended the IFA half-day conference entitled ‘Climate Action in Agriculture – A Balanced Approach”. The objective of the event was to rebalance the debate around climate action and featured one of the foremost experts in the world on the important role of farming in the climate debate, Dr Frank Mitloehner from the Department of Animal Science, University of California  Davis, who gave an extremely interesting presentation on “Livestock and Climate”.
Other speakers included Prof. John Fitzgerald, Chair of the Climate Change Advisory Council, who’s presentation was entitled “Holding Government & Society to Account for Climate Action” and Dr Frank O’Mara, Director of Research, Teagasc  speaking on “From Calculations to Climate Action”
The event also heard from Tom Arnold, Chair of the Government’s 2030 agri-food strategy, Prof. Alice Stanton of the Royal College of Physicians and various IFA representatives.
