Stop the Spread of Grass Weeds

Good machinery hygiene is critical in stopping the spread of grass weeds across farms and from farm to farm. Always take the time to clean down machinery after working in a field where grass weeds are present. This rule applies to both contractors and farmers as they move from field to field within their own farm. Cleaning will take time but can save thousands of Euro and man hours in trying to control grass weeds in the future. Teagasc have produced a video which you can view by following this LINK along with a number of guidance leaflets on the identification of grass weeds, weed control and appropriate cleaning routines. This LINK will bring you to the Teagasc Tillage Advisory Newsletter and machinery cleaning protocols can be downloaded here
