ATV/Quad Bikes – New Legislation

New legislation relating to quad bikes is due to come into effect on 20th November 2023.  According to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), will be “the first of its kind” in the EU.
It comes as farming continues to be one of the most dangerous sectors in Ireland in which to work, with thirteen work-related farming fatalities already this year.
The new regulations are part of the HSA’s efforts to reduce these shocking figures and include the introduction of compulsory helmet-wearing and training for all quad bike operators.
HSA senior inspector Pat Griffin says the reality is, that whilst a quad bike is a useful piece of machinery and simple to operate, it is also very easy to overturn. Guidance on the safe use of ATV/Quad Bikes is available on the HSA website; follow this LINK
